Religion
Students in Grade 7 learn about their faith through the study of the New Testament. They discover that the lessons of God found in the Old Testament are not abandoned, but a new understanding of God is offered through Jesus’ teaching and by His example. With this deeper understanding of religious beliefs, students are challenged to live a Christian life by developing Christian attitudes and behaviors.
Students learn:
- God gave us faith and created us to know him - Scripture and Tradition reveal the truth - The mystery of the Blessed Trinity is central to our faith - God calls us to live our faith through loving relationships - we meet God through Jesus, he shows us God’s power and love - Jesus, the Son of God, is both human and divine - the synoptic Gospels reveal Jesus to us, each presenting a different image depending on the writer’s viewpoint, audience and purpose - The Gospel of John explores the mystery of the Incarnation - to study the parables and gain an understanding of God’s Kingdom through the parables - they can spread the Kingdom of God through their actions - Jesus suffers for the sins of all humanity - Jesus fulfills God’s plan of salvation - Jesus prepare his disciples to continue his mission - The Church, the Body of Christ continues the mission of Jesus - The Sacraments help them to share in God’s life and love - to live out the attitudes, values, and ideals of Jesus in today’s world.
