Please review the snow-day/inclement weather school cancelation process.
If Weymouth Public School is noted as closed/delayed on public television - Saint Francis Xavier Middle School will also be closed/delayed. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
SFX may opt to close/delay even when the Town of Weymouth does not. It is important to think of Saint Francis Xavier Middle School as a “regional school” covering many South Shore communities. Street conditions in regional towns, and area school district closures may not mirror the conditions or actions taken by Weymouth. In that case, SFX may opt to close/delay school. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce closure/delay.
Saint Francis Xavier Middle School may close early if the weather worsens dramatically during a daytime storm, in this case, Champions would be canceled. A text/voice message will be sent out from our student information system to announce an early closure.
As the temperatures drop, please remind your student to dress in weather-appropriate clothing, including layers, hats, and gloves. Whenever the weather is dry, we make it a priority to get outside for snack and recess, so being properly dressed ensures your child stays warm and comfortable while enjoying outdoor time. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and prepared this season!
Please remember that as the winter unfolds you should be prepared for inclement weather, late openings, school closings, and early dismissals. Check that your FACTS account has the up-to-date contact information. We will communicate with you via FACTS utilizing their Notification Program. While school closing due to inclement weather is dictated by our local school district, Weymouth, we regret that the decisions can, at times, be last minute.
As always, in everything we do safety comes first. If in your estimation the weather has produced conditions that are hazardous, please keep your child at home.
Finally, your child should know what your family plan is in the case of an unexpected early dismissal. They should know what to do and where to go.
