St. Francis Xavier School has a rich history that began with a decree in the mid 1950s by Cardinal Richard Cushing to build a larger church and a school on the current site on Pleasant Street in South Weymouth. The school began with just two grades, staffed by The Sisters of Divine Providence, and added a grade each year, until the first class of 8th Graders graduated in 1965.
In the summer of 2020, our school began a partnership with Sacred Heart School in Weymouth. The Sacred Heart School campus is home to PreK through Grade 4. St. Francis Xavier School now includes students from grades 5–8. Students at St. Francis Xavier School proudly continue the school's traditions of family, parish and community.
